at Cromford Wharf

Boundary wall. c1794, with C19 and C20 alterations. Drystone rubble, patched with coursed squared stone, and rubble coping. The wall runs SE from Rose Cottage (item 668-0/2/10006) for approx 200m. This length, approx 2m high, has 2 doors to outbuildings at Rose Cottage, and a C20 field gate. The wall then runs S for approx 100m, then SE for approx. 40m, meeting the canal towpath at a shallow angle. This length is approx. 2m high, and has largely been banked with soil on the W side. The wall dates from the first phase of development on the site, which it encloses and defines.
