Full Description

Northwest boundary wall at Cromford Wharf, Mill Road, Cromford, built c1794. From the National Heritage List for England: 'SK 2957 CROMFORD MILL ROAD 668/2/10027 North West boundary walls at Cromford Wharf GV II Boundary wall. c1794, with C19 and C20 alterations. Drystone rubble, patched with coursed squared stone, and rubble coping. The wall runs SE from Rose Cottage (item 668-0/2/10006) for approx 200m. This length, approx 2m high, has 2 doors to outbuildings at Rose Cottage, and a C20 field gate. The wall then runs S for approx 100m, then SE for approx. 40m, meeting the canal towpath at a shallow angle. This length is approx. 2m high, and has largely been banked with soil on the W side. The wall dates from the first phase of development on the site, which it encloses and defines. Listing NGR: SK3003357057.' (1)
