Description

'BAKEWELL SK2169 HOLME LANE 831-1/3/112 (North side) 20/05/74 The West Lodge (Formerly Listed as: HOLME (North side) Holme Hall Lodge) GV II Shown as The Lodge on O.S. Map. Former entrance lodge to Holme Hall (qv). Dated 1841. Coursed dressed limestone with ashlar sandstone dressings; graduated slate roof. Tudor Revival style. EXTERIOR: single storey and attic in compact T-shaped plan with gabled entrance towards drive to Holme Hall and 2-window front facing Holme Lane. Chamfered plinth, large quoins. Double-chamfered mullioned windows with leaded lights and dripmoulds. Porch and main gables with shaped kneelers, chamfered gable copings and shaped finials. Entrance front: open-fronted ashlar porch with moulded Tudor arch; 3-panelled pine door within, the lintel dated '1841'. Flanking single-light windows and 2-light window to attic. Short wing set back to right in same style. Left return (facing Holme Lane): 2-light window on left of canted ashlar bay window of 1:2:1-lights beneath ashlar roof. Roof with rolled tile ridge with central stack having twin diagonally-set flues with cornices. INTERIOR: not inspected. Listing NGR: SK2172869060.'
