Description

Row of houses now 3 dwellings. Late C17 and early C18; partly reconstructed C20. A mixture of sandstone and limestone rubble, stone slate and concrete tile roofs. EXTERIOR: 2 storeys, 7-window range disposed 4:2:1. Dial Cottage occupies 2 former houses at left end and is set higher. No.1 at right end has boarded door under stone lintel on left of a double-chamfered 2-light mullioned window with painted sill and old rectangular pane leaded lights; matching window above. Brick end stack on right. Saxon Cottage to left has part-glazed door to left of 2 double-chamfered mullioned windows to each floor; leaded lights; another doorway on right. Brick ridge stack. Dial Cottage: boarded door with casement on right and 2-light square-faced mullioned window to each floor on left; small window above door; sundial on wall to right. Left end of Dial Cottage is a C20 reconstruction with door to left of 3-light mullioned window beneath single-light and 2-light mullioned windows. Small brick end stack at change of roofline on right. INTERIOR: not inspected. Listing NGR: SK2164168444
