Description
Masonry weir. Early C19. Reverse 'S' shaped weir spanning the River Derwent, built to serve Calver Mill. Massive embankment with shallow saddleback to weir peak, and an incline to river level lined with coursed squared gritstone blocks. Weir peak stones have diagonal sockets, now with stone fillings, but possibly for fixings to retain weir boards. See also Calver parish.
