SK 16 NW PARISH OF CHELMORTON MAIN STREET 5/61 (West Side) 12.7.1967 Townend Farmhouse GV II Farmhouse, now divided into two. 1634 and mid C18. Rendered stone. Gritstone dressings and quoins. Ground and first floor sill bands, and stone plinth. Stone slate roof. Gable end stone stacks with plain bands. Stone coped gables. Low parapet wall and moulded eaves cornice. Two storeys, three bays. Central doorcase with semi-circular head. Fluted pilasters and moulded imposts on plain bases. Above, moulded pediment on stone brackets. Flush panelled door. Traceried fanlight. To either side, Venetian windows with stepped aedicules and glazing bar sashes. Above, two similar Venetian windows. Over door, semi-circular headed glazing bar sash with moulded aedicule . To rear, four-centred arched doorway, lintel inscribed 'IB 1634', also 3-light recessed and chamfered mullion window. Original C18 leaded lights to first floor west window. Listing NGR: SK1107269702
