Description
Small country house, now divided into two dwellings. c1812. Ashlar gritstone. Hipped slate roof with leaded ridges. Various ashlar triple stacks with moulded tops. Moulded cornice and low parapet. Two storeys, central block with recessed long wing to east, orangery to west. South elevation - advanced central bay. Doorcase with four Ionic columns. Central panelled door with rectangular fanlight over and glazed lights between the columns. Entablature above. To either side of central bay three tall glazing bar sashes. Above door three-light mullioned windows with moulded architraves and mullions. Glazing bar sashes. To either side three, shallower, glazing bar sashes. West elevation has two canted bay windows with full height glazing bar sashes either side of central glazed door. Above three glazing bar sashes. At north corner, single storey orangery with three full height glazing bar sashes. To east, recessed wing in rubble gritstone, has two glazing bar sashes and door with arched lights. Above three similar glazing bar sashes. These openings have flush stone surrounds. Beyond to east C19 wing, slightly taller. Single sash below and cut away corner supported by metal column. Above two plain sashes.
