Full Description

Allenhill Spa Well, Dimple Road, Matlock Town, of uncertain date. 'Known commonly as Allen Hill Spa Trough. The 'Dimple Sough' drains the former Dimple Lead Mine. The water is iron-stained. There is a 'Georgian-type' adit entrance with name and date carved in the headstone, a gritstone-lined waterway with a small trough. It is an unusual and attractive feature of a former mine drainage that passes beneath Dimple Road to the horse trough at its junction with Bakewell Road.'
