Full Description

The 1st ed. 25" Ordnance Survey map of c. 1880 shows a dashed line around an area approximately 35m x 45m, within which is written 'Ancient Coins found here between AD 1800 and 1874'. (1). "Near the north-west corner of the orchard attached to Cherry Orchard Farm in Fenny Bentley village ancient coins have been dug up for upwards of 70 years. Two years ago two silver coins of the date of King Arthur (sic) were found". (2). There is no local knowledge of the present location of these finds nor have there been any new finds within living memory. (3).
