Full Description

Completely defaced milestone near Holbrook village. (1) Milestone on Makeney Road, between Holbrook Moor and Makeney, on a former turnpike road. A photograph taken in February 2002 suggests that the milestone is badly eroded. (2) The 1st ed. 25" OS map records a milestone on this spot as 'Chesterfield 16, Derby 6'. By the time of the 2nd edition (c. 1900) it is recorded as 'M.S. (Def.) and was therefore presumably no longer legible. (3, 4) Milestone is so worn that it is indecipherable. (5)
