Coal shute Hopping Hill Terrace, Shaw Lane, Belper, built c1800-1819. From the National Heritage List for England: '1. 5167 SK 3545 5/194 SHAW LANE (South-West Side) Milford Hopping Hill Terrace Coal Shute adjacent to No 14 West Terrace II GV 2. Built between 1800 and 1819. Another Strutt innovation. Wide stone paved embanked shute from road for carts to tip their loads into yard at end of terrace. Brackets for former iron chain across pavement edge of shute still exist, but opening now has stone infill. Listing NGR: SK3507245488' (1)
