Canal Bridge, Long Lane, Shipley, built in 1779. 'Carries Long Lane over the Erewash Canal.' (1) From the National Heritage List for England: 'PARISH OF SHIPLEY NEWMANLEYS ROAD SK 44 NE 3/40 Canal bridge at Shipley Gate SK 463 454 GV II Canal bridge, 1779 by engineer John Varley. Red brick with stone copings. Low single segmental brick arch with low plain brick parapets over, topped by flat stone copings. Side walls splay outwards and end in square brick piers. Part of the Erewash Canal. Listing NGR: SK4625445349.' (2)
