Bean Hill Farm outbuildings, Market Place, Castleton, an early 19th century building. 'Bean Hill Farm, Castleton. Partially extant 19th century farmstead. The farmstead is formed of a regular courtyard of L-plan with additional detached elements to the main plan and three sides of the yard formed of agricultural buildings. The farmhouse is attached to the agricultural range. The site is located within or in association to a village. with one or more of the structural elements dating to the 19th century There has been a partial loss (less than 50%) of traditional buildings.' (1-4) From the National Heritage List for England: 'SK 18 SE 7/38 PARISH OF CASTLETON MARKET PLACE (East Side) Range of outbuildings to west of Bean Hill Farmhouse GV II Outbuildings. Early C19 or earlier. Rubble limestone with gritstone dressings and quoins. Welsh slate roofs. Stone ridge stack. Part stone coped gable and two moulded kneelers. Two storeys, the south block stands higher. Elevation to market place with irregular fenestration. Doorway with double doors, flanked on each side by casement windows. Window above with stone surround. Cart entrance to the left, the upper part blocked. Further window on each side of the cart entrance. Listed for group value only. Listing NGR: SK1504982810.' (5)
