Retaining wall and grottos, Thornbridge Hall Garden, Great Longstone, a late 19th century complex. From the National Heritage List for England: 'SK 17 SE PARISH OF GREAT LONGSTONE LONGSTONE LANE 3/11 (East Side) Retaining wall and grottos in gardens at Thornbridge Hall GV II Retaining wall and grottos. Late C19. Stone. Retaining wall approximately ninety yards long. Rubble stone with seven urns on rusticated ashlar piers. The urns are of two alternating designs. To the south an urn on a polygonal table and a castellated grotto with steps down on either side to a lower level. Lower level has a half domed opening with stone seat. To the south east a rustic grotto of massive tufa blocks. Stone bench set in with festoons of fruit on the backrest. Listing NGR: SK1988370961.' (1)
