Full Description

Brick-lined tomb, graveyard of All Saints Church, Church Lane, Weston Underwood, of probable post medieval date. During a watching brief carried out in 2016, a brick-lined tomb was partially seen and recorded: 'a brick-lined grave with a stone capping was discovered. Examination of this grave revealed that the red bricks which comprised the walls had an interior white wash, however photography of the inside of the grave revealed a poor state of preservation and general disrepair of the grave caused by root penetration. No human remains were immediately identifiable within the grave, however metal objects surviving therein indicate that the grave would originally have been occupied by a coffin and small traces of possible surviving bone indicate a human interment.'
