Full Description

Former site of outbuilding, northeast of Stonehouse Prebend, Old Chester Road, Derby, possibly a 16th century building. On the 1st edition 25" OS map of c1880 the L-shaped out building is shown, but not labelled, in relation to Stonehouse Prebend, the latter is labelled 'City House.' The building continues to be shown on the 2nd edition 25" OS map of 1899 and on the 3rd edition 25" OS map of 1913. The mapping shows a benchmark existed on the north outer wall, 'BM 159.6'. It is possible that the building ceased to exist at or near the time Stonehouse Prebend had a fire in c1970.
