Gate piers and gates at Abbots Grove, Sterndale Lane, Hartington Middle Quarter, of early 19th century date. From the National Heritage List for England: 'SK 06 NE PARISH OF HARTINGTON MIDDLE QUARTER STERNDALE LANE 4/81 (North Side) Gate to west of Abbots Grove GV II Gateway and gates. Early C19. Sandstone and wrought iron. Chamfered square piers with plain capitals supporting lintel with segmental arch below. Dropped keystone carved with flowers. Raised central block over, with rock-faced stone. Flat copings to sides and over. Triangular finials to centre and sides. Original iron gate below. Vertical bars, tops rising to centre, with acorn finials, tied by curved bands ending in scrolls. Included for group value only. Listing NGR: SK0967766558.' (1)
