Full Description

Stable House, Main Street, Great Longstone, a 17th and 19th century building. From the National Heritage List for England: 'SK 17 SE PARISH OF GREAT LONGSTONE MAIN STREET 3/15 (North Side) 12.7.67 Lower Stables at the Hall GV II Stable block. C17 and early C19. Rubble limestone with gritstone dressings and quoins. Stone slate roof with stone coped gables. Two storeys. South elevation has a blocked doorway on the left with stone lintel and quoins, and a later window set in. To the right, a narrow breather with stone surround, C20 double garage doors, two blocked breathers with stone surrounds and a blocked doorway with stone lintel and quoins and a later window set in. To the right again, a 2-light window with chamfered mullion and a doorway with stone lintel with keystone and chamfered jambs. Two 3- light recessed and chamfered mullion windows to first floor. The C19 right hand end has its original stable fittings. Listing NGR: SK1982271929.' (1)
