Gate piers at Woodthorpe Hall, Fanshaw Gate Lane, Holmesfield, an early 17th century structure. From the National Heritage List for England: 'This list entry was subject to a Minor Amendment on 2 September 2022 to correct a typo in the description and to reformat the text to current standards SK 37 NW 5/153 PARISH OF HOLMESFIELD FANSHAWE GATE LANE Gatepiers at Woodthorpe Hall (Formerly listed as the Derwent Hall gatpiers) 31.1.67 GV II A pair of stone gatepiers. Early C17. Rusticated ashlar gritstone piers, approximately 3 metres high, rising from shallow plinths incorporating at mid height moulded drips, and with boldly projecting cornices supporting banded ball finials. The piers were removed from the site of Derwent Hall (inundated by the Derwent Reservoir) and re-erected in 1942. Listing NGR: SK3149478772.' (1)
