Full Description

The Lodge (gate lodge to the Cedars), Main Street, Newton Solney, an early 19th century building. From the National Heritage List for England: 'PARISH OF NEWTON SOLNEY MAIN STREET SK 22 NE 1/57 (South Side) The Lodge and Attached Walls GV II Lodge, originally to The Cedars. Early C19. Rendered brick lined to resemble ashlar. Hipped Welsh slate roofs, central diagonally placed ridge stack. Plain first floor and eaves bands. Two storeys. Three bay west elevation of tripartite composition with taller advanced centre bay. The ground floor has a central 2-light casement window set in a deeply chamfered surround. To the right a 2-light casement and to the left a plain doorway with half glazed door. The first floor has a central paired casement set in a stepped surround, flanked by square single light casements. Wing walls curve out on either side to enclose the front garden. Ramped coped parapet with ball finials. Round arched doorway to left and round arched alcove to the right. Listing NGR: SK2797125551.' (1)
