Pair of benches near Grand Basin in Melbourne Hall Gardens, Church Close, Melbourne, of early 18th century date. From the National Heritage List for England: 'SK 38/3925 PARISH OF MELBOURNE CHURCH CLOSE 6/76 (East Side) Pair of Curved Benches to either side of Grand Basin in Melbourne Hall Gardens GV II* Pair of curved benches. Early C18 but much restored. Erected as part of a French style garden designed by Royal Gardeners to Queen Anne, London and Wise, for Thomas Coke of Melbourne Hall, with work carried out by William Cooke of Walcot. Seven narrow shaped legs on moulded bases with plain segmental curved slab stone seat to top plus moulded nosings. Included in the Derbyshire Historic Gardens Register at Grade I.
