Cow House west of Mount Pleasant Farmhouse, Middleton and Smerrill, an 18th century building. From the National Heritage List for England: 'PARISH OF MIDDLETON AND SMERRILL SK 16 SE 1/37 Cowhouse 25 metres west of Mount Pleasant Farmhouse GV II Cowhouse, with storage floor above. C18. Coursed squared rubble limestone, with gritstone dressings, quoins, plain eaves and a stone slate roof. Two storey, symmetrical elevation with four ground floor doorways with massive quoined surrounds. First floor central taking-in door, full height, with quoined surround, flanked by stone framed square doorways. Plain planked doors. Ground and first floor walling incorporates rectangular gritstone blocks with ventilation loopholes. Attached and recessed at east end, lower outbuilding early C19. Two storeys, two bays with single lights in chamfered surrounds and cast iron Gothic frames to first floor, and two square ground floor openings with small paned frames flanking central doorway, with quoined surround and planked door.
