Full Description

A series of six strip lynchets running north-west/south-east have been identified from aerial photographs. (1, 2). A spectacular survival of medieval cultivation strips created to follow the contour on the locally moderate slope. There are six lynchets, each one metre in height. These strips were once part of the medieval field farmed by the settlement of Gratton. (3).
