[SK 38163690] ALMSHOUSES [GT] (1) The Wilmot Almshouses, Chaddesden, a range of six cottages of c. 1638. (2) Recently demolished. (3) Photograph caption: Opposite the door of Chaddesden church once stood six almshouses built 1638-9. Part of a bequest of 16 (the other ten were in Derby's Bridge Gate), they formed Wilmot's Charity or the Black Hospital. There were two outside privvies to serve all six houses. Demolished February 1963. Photographed in 1959. (4)
