Full Description
Knowles Farm, Holmesfield. Extant 17th century farmstead. The farmstead is formed of a loose courtyard with three sides of the yard formed of agricultural buildings. The farmhouse is detached with side on to the yard. The site is in an isolated location. Large modern sheds are located to the side of the site, suggesting it may remain in agricultural use. All the traditional buildings remain extant. (1) (2) (3) (4)
Late 17th century L-shaped farm with attached barn, a kitchen extension at right angles and another attached barn beyond that. Mullioned windows and a 1696 datestone over a blocked doorway at the rear. Considerable alteration. Another barn is called tithe barn by the owner. (5)
Vernacular building dated to 1696 as indicated by datestone. Building is apparently 'in ruins' (1976). (6)
