Milepost, east of Risley Grammar School, Derby Road, Risley, an early 19th century structure.
'Cast iron bobbin type mile post made by J Harrison of Derby. Located on the Derby-Nottingham turnpike.' (1)
Photographs show the milepost to be painted white, with the lettering on the head in black. (2)

Milepost. Early C19. Cast iron. Bobbin type milepost on narrow circular stem with cylindrical head and moulded top, standing about 3 feet high. West side inscribed 'NOTTm/8/MILES', east side inscribed 'DERBY/8/MILES' and stem inscribed 'HARRISON, DERBY'.
