Tapton Grove, off Grove Road, Brimington, built c1800. From the National Heritage List for England: 'BALMOAK LANE 1. 5169 Tapton Tapton Grove SK 47 SW 16/281 II* GV 2. Circa 1800. Rough pecked ashlar with eaves cornice and stone slate roof. 2 storeys. 5 sashes. Centre door with Doric columns and pediment, narrow side sashes. 6 panelled door, fielded garrets and radial fanlight. 3 windows in returns. Very good interior. Rooms with panelling, fireplaces, and moulded plaster ceilings in both Cl7 and Cl8 styles. Entrance hall with arch and fluted ceiling panel. Good staircase with fluted end columns and cast iron balusters, alternately plain and moulded. Panelled. Oval dome with glazed band lights staircase. 6 panelled doors. Rear of house said to be older.
