Full Description

Short section of Roman road connecting the Melandra to Manchester Route, and the Melandra through Longdendale Route, Glossop, in part clearly visible with LiDAR data, in part conjectural or assumed. A study of LiDAR data by D Ratledge in 2021 established the route of a Roman road from Melandra towards Manchester, and a route from Melandra up through the Longdendale Valley. This small section connects those two routes just north of Melandra. Some of the route is clearly visible on the survey data, although some sections are not quite as visible, or are conjectural as the route cannot be seen through modern buildings. (1)
