A series of earthworks identified to the north and south of All Saints Church, Mackworth that possibly indicate house platforms from the shrunken medieval village.

Part of a Roman roof tile was found somewhere in the garden of Hazelbrow Cottage, Duffield in 1959.

A major V-shaped ditch was excavated here with 14th-15th century pottery recovered from its infill. It has been tentatively identified as a medieval town defence.

A possible ford site was identified in 1965, together with a report of Roman pottery having been found nearby in 1956.

Several Romano-British ditches were identified during excavation in 1996; some probably formed the north-western corner of a much larger enclosure that once lay to the south-east
