Sandstone pavements and flint and stone artefacts found in c.1845, suggesting the presence of a prehistoric or Romano-British settlement site. Pavements destroyed by farming in mid 1900s.

Old House Cottage is a cruck-framed building with late 16th/early 17th century origins. Originally part of a larger house; now occupied by the mid-late 17th century Southgate Old House.

Two Roman lead ingots were found in 1975 by workmen digging a ditch in this approximate area.
